Everyone should become vegetarian because they do not need to eat meat to have a healthy diet. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
There are some individuals who believe that everyone should become a vegetarian because it is not essential to eat meat. This essay will oppose this viewpoint. It will state the benefits of including meat in the diet.
Meat is the main source of protein which is an essential nutrient for the growth and repair of worn-out tissues. For a healthy body, people need all the required nutrients in their diet, which is proven to complement one’s health; however, meat should be included. As an example, a study carried out at Solus University in 2017 showed 2 % of Vegetarians have health problems due to a lack of protein in their diet.
The World needs a balanced ecosystem. This is only possible when some of the animals are killed for human consumption, and some of the vegetables are spared for animals, thereby creating a balanced environment. This was illustrated in Zimbabwe when the National Parks imposed strict regulations on poachers; there was hunger due to lack of grazing areas which was escalated by the increasing number of herbivores.
On the contrary, vegetarians are free from coronary health problems. This is because they are free from animal fat which is deposited in the inner lining of the blood vessels, thereby reducing blood flow cause increased pressure. For instance, the Health times of September 19 2004, read, “Animal fat the main cause of Heart diseases.”
To conclude, meat provides essential nutrients for healthy living, and the killing of animals for meat allows a state of balance on the ecosystem, although vegetarians usually don’t suffer from the effects of animal fat.
