Some People Say Cultural Traditions Are Destroyed when They Are Used

Some people say cultural traditions are destroyed when they are used as money-making attractions aimed at tourists. Others say this is the only way to save such traditions. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

Cultural events play an integral role to develop the economy of a nation as they attract tourists. Countries earn foreign revenue, whereas people from different corners of the world attain knowledge about traditional and cultural values. Some individuals believe that these values were destroyed when used for money-making, where some are in favour. This essay fed light on both views.

At the outset, some traditions have already disappeared due to the rapid advancement in technology. If the neighbourhood culture is coarsely adjusted to suit the reason for the travel industry, the vacationer experience is undermined, and this may really show the way of life in an awful light. For example, cultural erosion may occur when strict practices, neighbourhood customs and celebrations are diminished and remade to meet traveller assumptions.

On the flip side, many people think that tourism brings benefits to host communities to save cultural and traditional values. However, these activities help the country to earn revenue and maintain its ancient sites. Many people visit the traditional places and come to know about the local culture and bring a lot of knowledge. This will help host culture spread worldwide, and more and more people are curious about visiting these places.

To put it in a nutshell, tourism is a great option to promote the local culture. It provides livelihood to local artists, and the benefits of these events also help the local government increase the economy. It is important to do this creatively so that its effects are not counter-productive.
