Very Few School Children Learn About the Value of Money and How to Look After It

Very few school children learn about the value of money and how to look after it, yet this is a critical life skill that should be taught as part of the school curriculum. Do you agree or disagree?

Money management knowledge is essential in life. The School curriculum focuses on the different academic subjects while overlooking money management skills. I believe the value of money and money management should be taught at schools. In the first body part, we shall be discussing the benefits of including it, and in the second half, we discuss the importance of teaching it in school.

Children must be taught how to be financially independent and how to manage their money for the needs of life. Students who learn to save, invest, and spend money appropriately will never find themselves in any financial crisis as this skill will help them in facing and solving any difficulties. Moreover, students usually inculcate this through family or teachers. Students who do not learn these skills will find themselves in trouble, and they will be left with no savings but to only rely on the monthly salary. Due to which they cannot develop financially and improve their assets. For example, in my country, almost every millionaire started saving very little at first, due to which they are able to acquire such a position today.

If money management is taught as a part of the school curriculum, all students will get a chance to understand the need and the concept in a better way. They will grow up with a better understanding of money and finances which will help them in having a better perspective while making financial decisions. In addition, this will lead to a more stable, enriched and financially developed society. As the lessons learned at school last for a long and that is why teaching money management is vital. For instance, there are few schools in the world which include the money management subject after certain age group, and to their surprise, it turned out to be very helpful for every student of that school in their future.

To conclude, learning money may not be so important for a few, but understanding the usage of money they have and its value impacts the person’s life a lot. This understanding can be developed either automatically by seeing their elders in the family or by getting educated in school. I believe that financial management must be a part of the school curriculum so that more and more students have a stable financial future.
