Dear Flo,

How are you and hope that you are well?
Sorry, I was not able to talk with you over the phone for quite a while, you already know the reason and that we are working hard to get the problem solved soon.

I am writing to tell you that I have been offered the job as an epidemiologist at the centre for disease control, the Washington branch in the USA. Thank you again for encouraging me to apply for it, our effort finally paid off.

I was offered a position as the epidemiology unit supervisor, which entails supervise and ensure that the epidemiology research unit is running at its maximum efficiency and performance. Asides from my usual duty as an epidemiologist, I will also be in charge of collating results and reports from other epidemiologists. I will also be in charge of sending a concise and comprehensive report of the unit work every week to the head of the unit who is my direct supervisor. The job also entails me travelling to other states in the United States for meetings and representing our unit in the stead of the unit head when otherwise preoccupied to attend or busy with other work functions.

You know, I applied for this job first for my passion for epidemiology and also, I wanted to move to Washington to be closer to my family and also working with CDC is a dream I have always have since medical school. When I saw the advert for epidemiologists with CDC, I could not have hoped for a better opportunity to advance my career as well as realize my dream of working with such a reputable organization.

I would love for you to tell me a few things about Washington since you have been living there for 6 years now. I have been hearing a lot about the USA, and I have my family in Texas, I would love to know more about the country and Washington in particular. The transport system, and weather and every other thing I may need to know before I head out to come in the next few months. By the way, I am expected to resume duty by October and that’s barely three months away. I will appreciate any information and details about the country to enable me to pack and what to expect when I come there.

Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you soon. I hope have repaid the phone and that it will be working in a few days, so you might as well try to reach me through the landline.

Best regard,
Amarachi
