Sample Answer of Describe a Thing that Your Family Has Kept for a Long Time

To commence with, our family kept so many things for a long time, some of which even belong to our forefathers. So today I am going to describe the clock which we have from our great grandfather.

In the 19th century, our great grandfather bought this clock, and It was a beautiful giant wooden clock with a metal pendulum. Timepieces are considered one of the most important things in the present day. People need to know the time constantly, and many ways have been invented to know the time. People now mostly use their cell phones to know the time, and there some groups use wristwatches. But at that time, people used gran clocks at their houses. It was a symbol of affluence and pride.

This clock is in our living room area, and it still looks new. Everybody who came to our house always praises this clock. As I heard from my father, that he was a man who never compromises with his needs and comfort. He always buys good things even he was not a landlord or rich, but he was keenly interested in having antique and beautiful items at home.

My family believes in traditions. The grand clock is also a symbol of tradition to us. Consequently, the family has been preserving the clock. Before the death of my great-grandfather, he assigned my grandfather for preserving the clock after his absence. So, my grandfather had preserved the clock and similarly made my father responsible for protecting the clock. As part of the legacy, the antique clock is now at our home. I think the clock’s responsibility would come upon me as I am the only son among my parents’ three children. Preserving the clock is not a big deal. It requires annual servicing and the servicing cost is also at the minimal level.
