Sample Answer of Talk About a Time when You First Talked in A Foreign Language

Being bilingual is very important nowadays. One should have a keen knowledge of another language rather than the local language. It not only helps us to build confidence but also market our culture globally. I remember an incident around 2008 when I was in Gurudwara Bangla saheb in Delhi along with my parents on the occasion of gurupurav.

When I was just about to enter the premises I 2 foreigners just came to me and asked about the occasion and history behind this. That was the first incident I spoke the English language with the others; before that, I had never spoken English at all. Though I was not fluent, both of them understood whatever I explained to them.

I told them about the history of the premises and also about our culture. After spending almost half an hour, we explored the monument, holy kitchen and the museum, which was built inside the premises itself.
At last, they both were really happy after knowing much about our culture and promised that they would visit again with their family. We both exchanged contact numbers, and currently, I am in touch with them.

Follow ups of Talk about a time when you first talked in a foreign language

Question 1:- At what age should children start learning a foreign language?

Answer- I think we should impose a foreign language in the academic syllabus and try to make it mandatory with the help of the administration. If a student learns another language, it would help him in the long run and boost his career.

Question 2:- Which skill is more important, speaking or writing?

Answer- both are important in their own aspects, but I believe speaking have more importance than writing. As a tourist, we all visit different locations and try to learn basic vocabulary so that we can have good memories by having communication with the local community. In that perspective, writing, I believe, is less required as compared to speaking.

Question 3:- Does a person still need to learn another language if he is good at English?

Answer- English has become a global language and is spoken in almost every country. If anyone commutes to a different country, one must be proficient in English so that one must avoid facing challenges in communication with local commuters.
