It is often argued that it is wiser to punish the younger generation equitably as compared to middle-aged people. Most experts claim that the same punishment would plunge the criminal possibilities. This essay will argue why punishing young pupils who commit crimes in the same way as adults is completely unbelievable.
Firstly, adolescents are not mature enough to understand the consequences of committing particular criminal activities. Indeed, the internal brain structure of that generation is not entirely developed, which, therefore, declares their indecisive and immature nature of them. Similarly, they would be unable to handle the punishments that degrade their mental status and lead to severe diseases. To exemplify, almost 68% of younger people have suffered from depression due to the punishment provided after committing crimes.
Secondly, influences from different movies, social media, and others have played a crucial role in rising crimes. Likewise, these so-called series from Netflix have highlighted those criminal activities and brought them into the spotlight. Hence, teenagers easily get influenced and commit these crimes. For instance, due to the development of science and technology, many young people have access to these mediums, and several cyber crimes have been increasing recently. Hence, to prevent this, instead of providing giant punishment, young people should be sent to rehabilitation centres.
To conclude, young children should be educated wisely. This could be done by uplifting the laws of the country. In order to eradicate criminal activities, awareness programmes should be conducted for the younger generations.
