Information technology is changing many aspects of our lives and now dominates our home, leisure and work activities. To what extent do the benefits of information technology outweigh the disadvantages?
A significant number of people have the perception that technological advancement is dominating our daily activities. This essay shall bring to bare the merits and demerits of this situation, and thereafter a viable conclusion shall be made.
There are many benefits of the use of technological devices, and one of the significant positive effects associated with this development is making livelihood easy and less stressful. The introduction of high tech gadgets such the mobile phone has enabled people to communicate to their loved ones far away from them instead of writing letters which will take more days to reach them, which sometimes most letters do not get to the target person as a result of poor handling, using such machines for researches, learning, buying and selling with its applications. For instance, I use the mobile phone to converse with my parents in the village with just a dial which has really saved me from long travelling.
Despite the fact that technology has helped many, some challenges associated with it cannot be overlooked, and one such problem is the invasion of fraud. Some people hide behind their computers and impersonate others, and scam people. To buttress this fact, the Ghana Police Service did a survey which revealed that about 1000 people in the country get scammed every blessed day.
In conclusion, having analyzed this occurrence, it is felt that the benefits of technology exceed its challenges. In view of this, I will recommend that we all get accustomed to this swift change.
