It Would Be Best if You Took Some Time Off Work and Want to Ask Your Manager About This

You are working for a company. It would be best if you took some time off work and want to ask your manager about this. Write a letter to your manager. In your letter:

  • explain why you want to take time off work?
  • give details of the amount of time you need?
  • suggest how your work could be covered while you are away?

Dear Mr Francis,

I am writing to humbly request that you Grant me 15 days’ leave of absence.

This is to enable me to attend a short mediation course at The National Open University which will commence on Tuesday 5th May through Friday 19th May 2022.

My last day at work will be on Monday, 4th May, and I will resume on Monday, 22nd May 2022.

This course is a special arrangement by international experts in conflict management. It is usually organized once in 5 years, which is the only opportunity I have. This is why I am eager to complete the course. I believe the little insider knowledge and information I will gain upon my return will be beneficial to me and also my team, which will, in turn, improve our overall services and performing professionally as well. I have enclosed a copy of the course brochure to see what I will be learning.

Before I leave, I am willing to train an intern that will be able to cover up for me during my absence. However, if there is any difficulty, I can be reached at my phone number (+23408653677) or my official email address ([email protected]) except at 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

I appreciate your understanding, and I look forward to getting a positive response from you.

Yours Sincerely,
