The governments should give each citizen a basic income so that they have enough money to live on, even if they are unemployed. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
In this cutting edge era, the issue of joblessness is increasing day by day. Citizens believe that the administration should start the scheme of free money, which should give to every individual. I disagree with this notion, and the reasons behind my opinion will be discussed in this essay.
To embark on a basic income system is risky and not sustainable in the long run for a country. Firstly, it reduces the incentive for work and increases laziness among the youngsters. Most people could depend on this subsidy rather than find jobs in the future. Consequently, the unemployment rate will also be grown. For instance, according to a survey in India, 60% of people are unemployed due to the stressless life of the government’s money. Secondly, there is no guarantee that the cash will be spent on productive activities. To illustrate, people waste their basic income on lavish life and drugs, which can be harmful to our generation.
Thirdly, the living conditions may not be improved because this scheme requires a more considerable investment. The government had to spend a plethora of money to proceed with this project. Therefore, the government can not be able to use this money to improve the infrastructure of schools, hospitals and public places, which aŕe indispensable for the good life of people. For example, many students are studying in private schools instead of government schools because these are not well maintained.
To recapitulate, I strongly disagree with the idea that government should give wages to citizens because it leads to inflation, laziness and demotivation for young generations.
