Although the Prices of Fuels Have Greatly Increased Over the Last Decade or Two

Although the prices of fuels have greatly increased over the last decade or two, it is argued that further increases in fuel prices are the only way to reduce world consumption of fuel and lessen pressure on the world’s fuel resources. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

Despite the fact that fuel prices have escalated considerably in the last ten to twenty years, many people have the notion that to make less pressure on the available global fuel resources and drop the usage of the fuel, there is a single solution available, and that is to raise the extra amount in the prices of fuel. In my opinion, this idea is completely absurd from every perspective.

From one standpoint, I believe that there is no need to make a rise in fuel prices as it is not the just way to overcome the current situation. There are many ways that can be taken to tackle this problem. As the world is adopting technology, many substitutes for fuel are available. For instance, bio-fuel vehicles, electric vehicles, solar vehicles are the solution to the price increase of fuels as more and more people accept those advanced technologies. As a result, demand for scarce fuel like petrol and diesel would go down, and this would lead to less force on the world’s fuel resources. Furthermore, people should be encouraged to use fuel-less modes of transportation. To exemplify it, the bicycle is the most suitable alternative to the problem as it does not need any fuel to operate it and in today’s market, there is plenty of variety of the bicycle with great interesting features. So there is no worry about the increment in the value of the fuel. This step should be initiated by the government with additional construction of the cycle path. Consequently, usage of fuel would decrease.

In addition, instead of an increase in the fuel price, people and government can pay attention to its usage as well as various substitute of it by considering in mind that people who are intended to use the fuel would not think about the price. They will pay the double but will not discontinue to use it. Moreover, State can impose a ban on the use of vehicles and automobiles. Also, it can restrict the manufacture of vehicles that consumes a higher rate of fuel.

In conclusion, I strongly oppose the idea that more value should be added to the price of fuel and we should think about the alternatives of this to reduce the usage of scarce fuel.
